SLOW FASHION / ORGANIC COTTON / PEACE SILK
With a focus on sustainability and ethical production, Maisie Prints is a new Sydney-based label that celebrates colour, vibrancy, and creativity in textile design.
With a small collection of shirts, boilersuits, silk scarves, and fabric available for purchase by the metre, Maisie Prints garments and textiles will brighten up your wardrobe with beautiful and striking pieces of wearable art!
WHY ORGANIC FIBRES?
Maisie Prints garments are made primarily from Ecocert Certified Organic Cotton.
Organic Cotton has a lower carbon footprint, and uses less fuel, water and energy to produce.
It’s safer for workers on cotton plantations, avoiding exposure to harmful chemicals and fabric treatments including formaldehyde, heavy metals and aromatic solvents.
Organic Cotton farming introduces no chemicals into the environment and is GMO free.
ethical & sustainable
“I don’t want to contribute to the wastage created by the fast fashion industry, which is why there are only small numbers of each garment produced, the fabric is sourced from a company that has environmental goals at the heart of its ethos, the garments are produced locally, and they’re unique pieces that I hope people will keep in their wardrobe for many years, or lovingly re-home.” - Maisie
Maisie Prints’ first run of fabrics was printed by A&A Eco Products in Noida, India, who use organic cotton, flax linen, wool and peace silk all grown and processed in India with natural dyes and low-impact biodegradable dyes.
They work under the Max Havelaar and GOTS Fair Trade guidelines; standards which are designed to support the sustainable development of small producer organisations and agricultural workers in developing countries. They also support NGO’s working extensively for wildlife conservation, disabled care and education for girls.
